 When planning your wedding the season is always a big consideration, also, your wedding budget plays a big part, equally important are the availability of wedding venues and vendors for your favored season. All key factors.

All of the above need to be taken into consideration, especially if you are dreaming of a "Peak Season" wedding.

A word to the wise, plan to make your reservations well in advance for "Peak Months".

  To help you get off to a running start, I have provided the following list of Peak Season $$$$ wedding months,
Sub Peak $$$ Season wedding months and
Off Peak $$ wedding months.

Wedding Wisdom Tip!
To avoid putting yourself in a real pickle...the best practice is to reserve your Wedding Officiant at or around the same time as you reserve your Venue.


It's surprising how many couples put off reserving a wedding officiate until the last moment before the wedding.  The pickings get very slim when waiting until the last moment, many officiates have already been booked months ago, if not a year or more in advance.

Not a good thing! There are simply two absolute must haves for your wedding, besides the bride and groom of course...that's the minister and a venue. The best practice is to book the venue and the officiant back to back.


There are many details concerning the ceremony event that very few couples would even know enough to contemplate, let alone plan for.

 The same may also be said for wedding planners / coordinators. Couples often fail to make this vital  and important distinction.
Party Planners & Wedding Planners may be adapt at party and reception events, however, they know very little to nothing about the inner workings or spiritual aspects of a Marriage Covenant. 


Too often couples mistakenly think in terms of the wedding ceremony and the reception party as being one big thing and lump it all together. When actually they are two very different separate affairs altogether, and in fact, have always been intended to be two separate events.

Often the unwitting couples will be encouraged to jam the ceremony into the reception venue that is designed with the primary function of parties and events. 

Where the venue may very well be a terrific reception venue, that doesn't mean they  handle the ceremony in a truly meaningful or respectful way.

Too often the ceremony is crowed into a smaller area of the reception venue and regarded as a bit of a nuisance to deal with in order to get your reception business.

This is true, as they did not know how to prepare for their ceremony ... everything just blurred together and when they look back, they remember the reception party, and not so much the ceremony.

That is very sad indeed. Tip: Avoid becoming too preoccupied with the reception party. Focus first on the preparation of your marriage and on the first moment you become husband and wife, When you understand and view your "marriage ceremony" as a completely separate function apart from the "reception party" you will enable yourselves and your guests to be fully present to relish the moment of your marriage.  

The reception party will unfold very naturally all on it's own.
I promise.

My Wedding Wisdom Tip is this. Keep the Marriage Event and the reception event in the right perspective, make them distinct and separate events. 

So on to the best wedding months...

First on the list and considered to be Peak Season high in demand months are typically May, June, September and October. These months will always go for the highest rates due to the demand. If you are after one of these months for your wedding, again book well in advance and expect to pay full rate for everything.
Perfect for the "If ya got it, flaunt it bride".

Second most popular set of wedding months, considered to be "Sub Peak Wedding Months" are April, July, August, November and December. During these months you'll often be able to take advantage of various specials and discounts to a point.
These wedding months are great for the "bargain hunter bride".

However, I wouldn't count on a complete shoe in on the availability status, as the economy is still dragging a bit, more and more bride's are upping for "Off Peak" wedding plans to get the best value for their the wedding dollars.

The Best Wedding Months for
South Central Kansas

The best wedding months for outdoor Spring Weddings in Kansas are April, May and "first half" of June. These months will prove to be the most naturally beautiful and comfortable in South Central Kansas. That said, keep in mind the first part of the day may still be a bit chilly, so plan accordingly 

Outdoor Fall Weddings:
 The month of September kicks off the Fall Wedding Season.
Look to mid or the "latter half" of September as it has cooled by this time offering the early stages of the Fall Colors with mild temperatures and bright clear days and comfortably cool evenings for your outdoor reception.  

The month of October is generally very lovely with occasional brief rain showers, just enough to keep things bright and fresh for the vibrant  fall colors. October is considered a Sub Prime Wedding Month as it is typically in high demand, coming in second to Spring Weddings as the most requested Wedding Month.  

 The "first half" of November, for the most part, is still very comfortable with bright clear sunny days with a touch of winter in the air lending to a very festive feel to your wedding event. 

For Outdoor Summer Weddings,
​From Late June to Early September think Sunset Ceremonies Only. 
These months are far too hot and humid to be enjoyable during mid-day.
However, planning for a Sunset Ceremony is very romantic and very comfortable with temperatures cooling between 76 to 80 degrees and most often accompanied by a lovely breeze, making the moment just right for your nuptials with an amazing Sunset backdrop.
