Wedding Planning Tips
Wedding Planning Tips from Our Planning Department!
Q: I just got engaged!
How do I start planning my wedding?
-Tiffany-
Before you announce to the entire world that you are engaged and everyone assumes that they are invited to your wedding, we suggest that you sit down as a couple and discuss the date, time, size, formality and style of your wedding -- things that really reflect your tastes and budget as a couple.Setting a realistic wedding budget now is going to save you from a nasty shock on your wedding day.
So take out that calculator, call up your folks and decide on a realistic budget. Set your priorities before you start number crunching. Once you know what elements you can't live without, you'll have a much clearer idea of how to allocate your money. Once you have a relatively good idea of your overall wedding budget, the next step is to contact us. From this point forward we can help you create a wedding based on your budget.
Q: When estimating my wedding budget how much should I expect to pay per person at the wedding reception?
-Amber-
As always, this will depend on the meal and beverages you choose to serve to your guests. If you are having an evening reception you will be considering a full sit-down full dinner menu. The average cost will be $35 to $65 on the meal plus $25 to $35 on the bar. If you decide to go with a soft bar of wine and beer only, you can reduce your cost to $10 to $15 per person.
There is also the option of going with no alcoholic beverages this will further reduce your costs to $3 to $5 per person for soft drinks and tea.
Afternoon receptions are usually much less, as lunch menus range from $12 to $18 per person. Also afternoon receptions are much more likely to have a limited bar or no alcoholic beverages served.
There is also an open bar which is a nice in between option. You provide your guests the meal with a non-alcoholic beverage and/or a soft bar and your guests have the option of purchasing their own alcoholic beverage from the bar if they wish to do so.
